How to avoid getting ripped off...

I'm about to potentially buy a bike on Ebay (approx £1800) and after seeing the 'ripped off' post below wanted to ask you sensible lot if you've got some practical advice for buying a second hand bike from Ebay.
Both some advice on the transaction and checking a carbon frame would be useful.
Viewing the bike tonight. Seller is offering puchase via PayPal so I will obviously use that method should I buy it but was wondering if its worth asking for an 'as sold' written statement and a receipt...
Thanks in advance!

First, make sure it isn't stolen. Ask plenty of questions and to see original paperwork. If anything sounds fishy, walk away.0

Make sure you view it at the sellers address, pay through ebay / paypal for at least a little comeback.
Make sure you are 100% happy with the product before buying it, and that it is as described, take a tape measure if you need to measure the frame, if that means going away to check up on some details, do so.0
