In further prep for my London to Paris ride, I am looking for input on ther best chamois cream out there?

I have used udderly smooth, and find it great, if a little thin and wears out after a few hours.

Im looking for something that will see e through 3x100+ mile days, cost is not an issue at all, so all input is welcome.

Thanks!

    Pure shea butter:

Works like a charm and is a major ingredient in other chamois creams. Last for ages, unlike other creams which have a water base.

  • Assos is what the rest of us riding seem to be using. I have heard good things from Audax riders about the shea butter.
I'm sure Fungus will help you apply it with him being a nurse and all.:lol:

Yes, I forgot to say it all comes down to the applicator.
The nicer the applicator, the better the experience...

Did London to Paris last September and used Sudocreme, dirt cheap and entirely effective!

Not quite sure what you mean by wearing thin after a few hours? Doesn't it get absorbed into the chamois thereby softening it / reducing friction? I thought that was how it worked.

I've used Assos and currently have Udderly Smooth. I use it when I remember, but I'm not convinced any of it really makes a difference for me unless I'm spending 10 hours plus in the saddle.

I don't like the "new" assos. the old formula with witch hazel I found was much better - more comfortable on the bike and a lot more comfortable afterwards off the bike. the new stuff seems ot have loads more "stuff"' in, is greasier, doesn't absorb as well, and seems to have less antibacterial properties. I am looking for an alternative ;(

Assos for me - Udderly is too thin if you ask me and seems to soak away.

DZ Nuts - does the job for me. Mind you, given Landis' allegations, you may want to consider whether giving money to DZ is what you want to do....

Udderly Smooth for me - never had any soreness problems - though never tried Assos.

PBK stuff seems ok. Reasonably priced too.
