Is there such a thing?.

I see lots of SPD shoes with them, but can't seem to find any that would suit Keo cleats.

I am after some shoes I could walk in!!!

I dont think they exist ? the Keo cleat is just far too big.

Options : Switch to a MTB system for smaller cleats and MTB shoes are easy to walk in.

Or get rubber cleat covers so you can walk on them.

Look Keo pedals are not designed to be recessed so not advisable to walk in them.

If you do a fair bit of walking then the only real option is SPD MTB type shoes.

    Thanks, thought so :D

Just means I can't use my racer to commute on, as I can't ride it down the works driveway, and I can't walk down it either!!

To my knowledge, no - recessed cleats are smaller, metal cleats typically found on MTB/Touring pedal/shoes combos - ala Shimano SPD, Time ATAC, Crank Bros. Egg Beaters.

The larger, typically triangular-ish road cleats - ala Shimano SPD-SL, Time Impact, Look Keo and Delta - fit one sided pedals, and flat-soled road shoes only.

They also have a three bolt system (four for Speedplay), whereas the MTB style cleats all attach with two bolts.

To clarify - the SPD shoes you're seeing which take recessed cleats are SPD - that's the MTB specific version, two bolt fitting, for double-sided or a couple of single-sided touring style pedals.

The road version of pedal system from Shimano is SPD-SL - and you can't fit the SPD-SL cleats to recessed MTB/Touring shoes - cos the sole gets in the way, and they've only got threads for two bolts.

You can get covers for Look cleats. You'll still walk like a penguin, but they're considerable less slippery for walking in than cleats and your cleats won't wear down as fast.
    More problems but still living....

Cheers, yeah, I ordered a pair of covers yesterday (Exustar?), hopefully they will help out.

Yep - I've got the covers too - they're pretty good - walking in road cleats is a bit of a skill to master - FWIW - I bought double-sided SPDs and MTB shoes for my commuting bike - so now only use the road shoes on clubruns, time trials and track league. Do still have to waddle one day a week if I take my TT bike into work!

I think I may get some MTB clipless for the hybrid, and like you say, leave the racer for "sunday best".

The hybrid isn't a huge amount slower than the racer (5mins over 17miles ish), and it has the added benefit of the racer feeling much, much quicker when I ride it!

I have seen platforms that clip into look pedals so they convert into toe strap things - letting you ride in normal shoes. Marketed for triathlons where it may be a help to wear running shoes on the bike leg and avoid an extra shoe change.
    Pyro Platforms or something ?
