    Yes, that's over 15 stone.

...did you mean a strict budget of £100?

Easton's are supposed to be fairly strong, I have some EA70's.

Mate, I weigh 106kg and have a Mavic open sport on the back and a Mavic cxp22 on the front. It's the amount of spokes that matters at heavier cyclist weights. Both these wheels a fairly cheap the open sport cost about 75 quid from my lbs.
It's never too late to become what you might have been...........

Depends if the weight of the wheel is an issue, I went from CXP22's to Eastons and saved nearly a kilo in weight.

When I weighed that much I was riding fine on Mavic Ksyrium Equipes - they're bomb proof, and I smashed into some pretty big potholes.

But, the advice of getting handbuilts is probably justified - they're much easier to tweak back true if you do pringle them, for a start.

Mavic rims, double butted spokes - search for wheel builders on here, but you'll be told wheelsmith.co.uk, Paul Hewitt or that guy who's name escapes me just now but somebody else will surely tell you (..anyone...??)

I still weigh 107kg and I have Roval Echappee wheels- these seem great, and have hit a few pot holes fairly hard......not that cheap though, and the freebody only accepts certain shimano cassettes.

I think that if you have a bit of cash that American Classics are meant to be suitable for the larger gentleman- especially the Hurricanes. But again, these are quite expensive. There is a weight limit stated on the American Classic website that is quite useful.

I also got recommended some wheels on a Tiagra hub, as these are pretty strong and you can get a good spoke count on them.

    Hope that helps!

At 95Kg I know what suits me. Handbuilt - mavic rims, 32hole midrange hubs, double butted spokes. Quality that will last you for years. Forget the cheap factory wheels with 24 spokes or less.

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
