Can a Non-Doper Beat a Doper?
MAYBE. Maybe not.
Read this entirely and tell me what you think:

The guy in the above article actually took all the drugs (legally believe it or not) and wrote about EVERY benefit. The most amazing thing? After riding 700+ miles in a 76 hour time period, he felt as though he had just rested the next day.He was 100% recovered.

Very interesting article, thanks for sharing it!
I have a couple of queries with regards to EPO and altitude training. As far as I understand it, the body's natural response to altitude (and hypoxia) is to increase production of EPO with a resultant increase haematocrit (to increase oxygen carrying capacity in of the blood). Can someone who has been training at altitude be picked up as a doper?
my assumption is not otherwise there would probably be more in the public domain about it. Although is it possible to achieve a haematocrit of 0.50 training at altitude? maybe in those who smoke?CUBE Agree GTC Pro '10

No, they're able to detect the actual synthetic byproduct from the rEPO doping. It's diff. than reg. EPO. However, they can only detect itin the urine and only for a short period of time, especially if they microdose.
What I'm surprised about is that so far everyone believes non-dopers can beat dopers.0 -
To be fair, I want to believe that someone with real talent and dedication and guts can bet any doper. Unfortunately I don't. Particularly after reading that I can see how much of a difference it can make in such a short time.
Now I'm beginning to suspect anyone that has had a big change in performance. (Wiggins?)0 -

You mean a big change in performance without any outwards signs to explain that increase...
Wiggins lost a shed load of weight, so massively increased his power to weight ratio.
Why just toss in a casual "Wiggins" in a thread about doping - if you believe he has, then back it up, don't just lob a grenade and duck for cover.Cannondale Synapse 105, Giant Defy 3, Giant Omnium, Giant Trance X2, EMC R1.0, Ridgeback Platinum, On One Il Pompino...0 -
All pros are supreme athletes, you don't join a team unless you've been a dominant elite rider in the U-23 ranks. So the differences between riders are actually small. This is why doping is such a cancer in the sport, it allows lesser riders to win, and sets off an arms race where others feel they have to dope to win and then others start using bigger doses and in no time people are taking crazy risks with their health.
A clean rider can beat a doped rider but they will have to work very hard to grab every legal advantage they can.0 -
