Centres near Brighton?
Just wondering if anyone here knows of a trail centre near Brighton? My Stag do is going to be down that way and we thought it would be a good laugh to do a ride, quite a few of the guys coming won't be very experienced so it doesn't have to be some gnarly death ride but if it was a centre where we could hire bikes that would be great as I'm sure the rest of the weekend wil be spent in the town and you normaly have to park in a multistorey car park when staying at the hotels ovrnight so bikes on roof racks is a definite no-no.
If anyone's got any ideas that'd be great.
We're also looking to do some windsurfing or something similar.
Thanks
Paul

No trail centres around Brighton that I am aware of...and I cycle here every week! However, you do have the south downs, and south downs way. Pretty good fun if you pick the right routes. Devils Dyke, Fulking Escarpment or Blackcap Hill heading the other direction. Playing on the Tank Tracks just above Hassocks is good fun too. Also Stanmer park has some singletrack littered around (on the outskirts of Brighton over near the new football stadium)
A little further afield is Bedgebury Forest which is purpose built stuff but that's about an hour from Brighton in the car. And another (name eludes me) out by Cukmere Haven. That's a nice little marked out forest route.
Bike shops that hire - I think Rayment Cycles in Brighton do...not sure how many bikes they have though but worth calling.
hope that is of some help0 -
There's some riding in Friston forest, I seem to remember something that even vaguely resembles a marked bike trail. As stated above, there's plenty of riding in the south downs, or if you can manage an hour-ish drive you could do some of the north downs trails near westcott.Rock Lobster 853, Trek 1200 and a very old, tired and loved Apollo Javelin.0

Friston is the name that eluded me...over at Cuckmere. There is a marked out trail and there's a few features over there like a giant bowl and a couple of jumps. Was covered in leaves last time I went which made navigation less easy on the singletrack...but is ok.
As mentioned above...you may be better driving north to Wescott/Dorking and hiring bikes there....some great north downs trails to be had on Pitch, Leath and Holmbury. Is one hour from brighton0 -
