Hi all, first post so please be gentle with me. i currently have a trek 4500 2010, when i bought it i admit now that i was foolish and just went with what thew lbs said, anyway 8 months later i now know the frame is way too big for me so going to down size. ordering up an on one summer season 456 tomorrow in 18" which should be ideal for me being 6ft with 33" leg. i want to swap over as much as poss from trek, only thing i cant is the seat post as they are diff sizes. the main problem i am having is the bottom bracket, my trek is 73 x 113mm BB i believe, the the shell on the on one is a 68mm. i am going to order up a new one so if i get a 68 x 113mm will this all match up ok? i figured as long as the 113mm measurement is the same it will be fine but i really have no idea? also does anyone see any probs with moving cables over or will i have to replace all, i hope not but again what do you guys think?

thanks

John

change the cable it will be easier.

and yes the same axle length if you want the same chain line.

hey, with regards to my cables i have just realised I have a full set of shimano inner and outers i got at christmas to use as spares, result! However fitting them looks easy but is it? You get set lengths of outer casing, which lengths go where and are they made to measure most bikes or do you need to cut them down? Once I know this is just a matter of giving it a go I reckon.

    anyone?

    thanks
  • Cut outer to size. Helps if you have some decent cable cutters.

good time to fit these on open ends also

thanks, this may sound silly but why do the cables have exposed bits ie. no outer casing. On my current bike the cable is in outer casing from the shifters, then exposed the full length of the headtube and then it goes back into the outer casing if this makes sense? It then stays in the outer casing until the final part where it comes out bear again and connects to the front/back derailleur, why is this?

Please excuse me if this is a silly question
