Specialized BG Gel Mitts

I bought a pair of these a couple of months ago and the stitching is coming apart in a few places. I'm going to send them back, but was just wondering if anyone else has had the same problem so I can decide on a refund (and buy something else) or a replacement.

My wife has a pair and they are great, in my opinion. In fact I have started to nick them every now and then when I can get away with it. They still look mint after 3 months of regular use so you might have been unlucky.0

I bought a pair in June 08 and still use them.
The gel pads gave softened/all but disappeared but they are still very comfortable and have survived regular w/machine treatment at 30 degrees.
No unravelling of any threads at all - I would definetely buy again.0 -

Thanks. I bought them on recommendations from here, so maybe I'll try another pair and see if they are any better made. I haven't even washed them yet.0 -
Mine are still fine after 3 years and numerous washes. If I come off the bike and trash them, I'll buy another pair. I suspect you have a duff pair.0

I went through 2 pairs in one season and gave up.
Others love them.
We must be unluckyNone of the above should be taken seriously, and certainly not personally.0 -
Mine are fine, too.Start with a budget, finish with a mortgage!0

Thanks all. I've sent them back for a replacement and will see how I get on with the next pair.0

It's only in small areas on mine, but once they start coming unravelled I can't see it being long before they fall apart.
It didn't cost me anything to send them back as Edinburgh Cycle Co-op gave me a freepost address, so I'll try another pair. If they're no good I'll get a refund.0 -
My BG Comps have seen about a year's use and dozens of washes and they're fine apart from worn logos.0

I had the same problem after only a few wears. Took them back to Evans and they replaced them. New ones OK so far.0

I thought they looked a bit flimsy when I bought them but I've had em for a couple of years now an they've been through the wash many times and they are still holding up well.
I'm always looking for an excuse to buy nicer stuff but these won't play ball.I ache, therefore I am.0
