The new puppies just arrived, including QR skewers and valve extenders which i was not expecting, hopefully it will stay dry this afternoon and as soon as I escape from work and go for a spin I will report back on them ..

they look every bit as awesome in the flesh as i had hoped/dreamed, not that I have been obsessing over them for long honest :)

Please please weigh them sans rim tapes and skewers and post.
    Esp the front.
    How are the hub bearings?
Did you get normal or heavy build?

Congrats, ride em hard and ride em fast.

  • ok chief, will get the weight weenie scales out when I get home ..

the hub barings are baringy, i have no idea as they're in the boot of my car waiting for 5PM to come around.

Standard build as I'm only approx 74kg

The carbon fairing is flexy, i did not expect this but they're my first deep section wheelset so what do i know.

they will be ridden hard and fast dont you worry about that.

what's the liscence plate # of your car? i'll valet it for you so it's all clean when you leave work....yeah that's right, i'll gladly clean out the boot which must be all cluttered with various bike bits :-D

  • WK54 .. it does need a damn good clean actually.

Well I had a brief first ride on them last night after assembling everything, sadly my neighbour borrowed my digital scales and returned them broken, sound familiar ?! So i was unable to weigh them.

first impressions are that riding in shorts and t-shirt isnt anything like riding whilst fully lycra'd up, apart from that they are amazingly smooth and there is a feeling of sure footedness i find hard to describe, road buzz is just non existant. they look the absolute mutts nuts and match my felt quite nicely I thought.

will go for a proper thrashing of them this evening in this lovely weather, great timing for the sun to make an appearance.

No worries though - Jets have a reputation for being reasonably bomb-proof. They make a nice noise as well.
  • i'm terrified of scratching them but I'm sure that will subside, and yes that noise is worth every penny, the whoosh whoosh whoosh when you lean on the peddles is fantastic .. i was grinning like a fool during my breif spin last night, probably looked a bit 'special' to passers by.

Wow, they look really clean and complete the look of your Felt, nice addition. Not a bad spend! Also your bike position looks mean: nice bar/shifter angle, good saddle-bar drop. Do you have a short torso? Your saddle is fwd and looks like you have a 10cm stem on a 59cm ST bike.

  • cheers. i'm very happy with 'the look', i must admit i feel like a hero rolling around on the thing, which is what it's all about, i frickin love it.

the saddle is way forward for when the oval tri extensions/arm rests are attached, also to help alleviate a niggle in my left hamstring, seems to have done the trick.

its actually a 120mm Oval R700 stem with the double over SCCS clamp face plate, alloy s bend extensions and carbon arm rests for tri/TT mode.

it's a 58 and i'm 6' 1" and no short torso freak to the best of my knowledge :) i'm pretty flat backed and comfortable, even more so with the silky smooth ride of the Jet's ..

not a good spin today, hill interval run last night ruined my legs, boooo to that. cycling seems so much more civilized than running.
