Morning all...
Just want some info from some south wales locals
How often do they run the uplifts at Cwm Carn?
What other trails are at the Cwm Carn site? they any good?
Anyone recommend Cwm Carn as a good MTB holiday destination?
We've done Scotland the past few years and fancy going in the opposite direction this time!
Any good campsites between there and Cardiff?
Sorry about all the Q's... I have to sell this to my brother and he's a hard man to persuade!
Just for an idea of what we'd be after... he'll be on a Kona Stinky
Taa!

Ben
you'd be better off camping at Afan, it's only 30 mins down the motorway, do the routes there and pop over to Cwm Carn when you want (or do it on the way there or back). There's an XC route as well as the DH course. From memory the XC route is around 1.5 hrs. Then there's Brechfa another 40 mins or so along the M4 from Afan. Not ridden there myself yet. Maybe next time we're at the mother in laws. It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.
I've bought a new bike....ouch - result
Can I buy a new bike?...No - no result0 -
We rode cwm carn a couple of weeks ago and loved it, compared to where we are it was great.
Have been told its quiet mild compared to other routes like afan.
The uplift was going up every few minutes, they had a couple of vans doing the runs. However the ride up the top isnt bad at all, apart from the rocks you have to tackle (especially when wet) its a nice easy ride up and well worth the decent.0 -
Hey mate sorry for the late answer was off in them there hills.
Cwm is an awsome trail but it's just one trail as teh guys above sugeested if its a whoel weekend your after in the south head to afan, for the extra trails and catch Cwm on your way into, or out of Wales, it's trail not to be missed0 -
Came back from Cwmcarn. Being not so fit rider, managed to squeeze 2 laps of Twrch trail and 1 run of Mynyyd downhill run using an uplift. Brilliant day, didn't ride even 100yards on fireroads, it's pretty much all technicall singletrack head on (up-down). Climbs as mentioned are actually enjoyable ... and personally to me, Twrch is more balanced than Whites level in Afan. But yeah, it's unmissable 1 day affair. A hidden gem. What could have been (Video)
I'll choose not put too much stake into someone's opinion who is admittingly terrible though0 -
The Twrch Trail has an awesome freeride section at the top that you can session in a loop. It's an amazing bit of trail. Search youtube 'twrch black run' etc. to see it in action.
