We did our first 100 mile this weekend. The "circle of hope" ride going through the North Wales hills around Llangollen and Worlds End, out to Cheshire and the Peckforton Hills (a total of about 2000m of climbing (from someones GPS)??? Think it may be closer to 1500m ).
Did it with my son - just turned 11, previoulsy we had done a very hilly 60 mile ride, but this was our first crack at 100.
I had to hang onto his back wheel from Beeston onwards and kept dropping off every now and again - I was wasted, with about 15 miles to go he just disappeared and I didn't see him till the end (where he was waiting with a cheeky grin!).
He completed the ride in about 7 hours 35 mins (6 hr's 55 ridetime, we had a stop for an ice cream - he insisted ) I ended up about 10 mins behind!!
Really proud of him, we did the ride in aid of Clatterbridge Cancer research:

Well done both of you I did my first hundred last weekend too, but an 11 year old - just wow! I'll look out for him on the tfd podium in about 2020!
Out of interest, what bike is he using? I've been trying together my son into cycling (same age) but no local bike shops stock junior road bikes0 -

Thanks.
Don't know why he gets all the attention - I did the ride as well!!
He's been enjoying the coverage I think - been in local paper and radio! Just trying to keep his feet on the ground, make sure he's not over confident - he still needs to work hard on his riding, mind he's very modest about it, never tries to show off to his mates, just seems to really enjoy cycling.

Pfff 100 miles is nothing for a man of your age. I did five centuries last year with very little prep, with distances ranging from 107 to 123 miles. The 107 was done in 5hrs 15 mins.
Your lad should bask in the glory as it's a big deal for an 11yo.Norfolk, who nicked all the hills?
