Hi All,

I've been lurking for a while but only just got round to posting, I'm getting back into road riding after 2-3 years of not really getting much opportunity and the info on here has helped me a lot, especially re. sizing!

I'm looking for some advice as to a guide value. I've got a Trek 5500 with Dura Ace 10 Speed - probably about a 2005 bike but it hasn't even done 1000 miles.

Basically it's too big for me as a 58cm so I've bought a nice Wilier in 56cm instead.

Pic attached from when it had tri bars etc. but this is all gone now - trying to decide if I should keep it as a spare or move it on.

Cheers!!

Phil

probably worth less than you hope for. I think that is a 2006 5500 and a lovely frame, I had one myself but things have moved on. The DA is nice but prob.2 generations old, not a bad thing but some people just want the latest. Possibly you could sell the groupset seperate to the frame? I sold my 5500 frame/fork for £350 I think.

With a shorter stem it's OK but not ideal for me so I was considering setting it up as my 'rain' bike.

All depends how I get on with the Wilier as the Record hoods feel really weird to me after the big Dura Ace ones!

I suppose I could always change the frame to paraphrase your idea.

    Cheers,

You should get a minimum £1000 and maybe as much as £1350 for that bike if it's as good as you suggest.

It's a 2005 frame and not 2006 as the OP suggested since the Madone was brought out in 2006.

I've seen these go recently on Ebay for between £900 and £1400. The USPS colour versions fetching the higher money. If you go the Ebay route ensure you give loads of detail and lots of pics - definite trend where more interest and subsequently stronger sale prices are evident when this is the case.

    Good Luck.

Thanks guys, I'll get it properly cleaned up and take some decent pics.

I bought this in preference to the USPS scheme because it seemed a bit 'look at me' :D

    Cheers,
