Gallows humour from today's Giro stage (no spoiler)
It's not often I find a great deal positive to say about modern editions of Cycling Weekly magazine but their website is often worth a browse and this made me laugh out loud.
Scenario is set as brutal day in Giro with dismal, dismal weather and hard racing early on.
CW have a team member in the Sky car who is providing input for the CW website's live text update on the stage.
First text:
Hugo texted us recently to say: "Game of survival at the back. Chris Froome and Chris Froome have put on a second rain cape. Team allegiances mean nothing now. Team Sky just handed Graeme Brown of Rabobank a pair of knee warmers and serviced another Rabo rider with a front wheel. What harm is there in a little sticky bottle back here?"
Great insight from CW's Hugo Gladstone there.
(presumably he meant Chris Sutton and Chris Froome, or vice versa)
Second text, and the one that made me spray my tea:
A little more info from CW News Editor Hugo Gladstone who's in the Team Sky car with Shane Sutton. Graeme Brown came back to the Sky car with a request for 'anything that's warm.'
Shane told him; 'we've got heated seats
Made me laugh anyway......
Enjoy the highlights if you haven't seen today's transmission yet
