Hi
Firstly if there are loads of posts about this already i'm sorry, i only joined yesterday so havent really had time to look through them all! Also if this is the wrong section I'm am also sorry!
what is the best lube to use on my bike chain? it will mainly be used in the dry commuting to work in the week and then off road at weekends but seeing as i live in the UK there will probably be a bit (or a lot depending on what our summer is like!) of cycling in the rain to contend with too.
any advise would be welcome.
Thanks
Chris

Yep. Weldtite tf2 chain oil.
Very cheap, bigish bottles and no more than you ever need to spend.0 -
i use finish line xc wet lube all year round.Whenever I see an adult on a bicycle, I believe in the future of the human race.

In the wet winter, finishline or Muck-off wet lube seems to do the job.
I just started using 'Squirt' for the dry weather and it seems to be invisible on the chain but is smooth as it gets. Chain stays clean too.
I went to the squirt website and got a free sample sent to me very quick.
Don't know if they still do the free samples though.

if the OP (or anyone for that matter) wants a bottle, theyl have to wait! lol. i need to source packaging and sort branding before anything can happen. But i would hope to have a product for sale by the end of the month.I like bikes and stuff0 -

This stuff. Got a sample bottle a few weeks ago, it rocks, no greasy black chain, super quiet drive chain, I'm converted!
Just apply after every ride and your ready to go next time!0 -
thanks for the advice! so far!
so are dry lubes better than wet? and as i'll be picking my bike up already built i assume it'll already be 'lubed up' so should i wait until it needs doing or get rid of what is already on there and start as I mean to go on?
Thanks

The lube you get from factory on a new bike chain will almost always be superior, keep it on as long as you can!!0

Dry lubes are better in dry weather because you dont get dust and stuff stuck to it
Wet lubes are stickier and better in wet conditions as they stick to the chain more
If you want to use a wax based dry lube then clean the chain first0 -
wow, cant fault that for service!
ordered a free sample thursday night and it arrived this morning!! will give it a go!www.conjunctivitis.com - a site for sore eyes0 -
Traditionally wax lubes were rubbish- like glue for dust- so people are a bit judgemental on that I think. But this squirt stuff seems good.
I like White Lightning, but it's very weather dependant, the dry ride stuff is ****-all use in the wet and vice versa. But the Epic Ride can deal with everything and it's very easy to apply evenly, because it goes on so thin then evaporates.Uncompromising extremist0 -
another thumbs up for finish line wet all year round. the dry is good too but does'nt last as long on the bike so ends up being more expensive i've found.0
