Child Seat to Fit 17" Specialized Rockhopper SL

I have a 2010 17 inch Specialised Rockhoper SL which I need to fit a rear facing child seat, preferably on a rear mounted rack. My model does not appear to have eyelets for mounting a rack however.

Can anyone recommend a child seat for this model bike. I had been looking at the Topeak Childseat with the disc brake mount but doubt it can be fitted without the eyelets .

I would be reluctant to use Pclips as a work around in case of a stress fracture.

Thanks

I'm not aware of any rear facing child seats! The topeak one certainly isn't!

If you want to take the child in question off-road i'd look at a trailer, far more secure and much more fun for the kids. You can pick them up for about £300

I've got a Hamax sleepy on my Specialised Rockhopper and both me and my son get on really well with it.

I looked at trailers but they'd bounce around too much on bumpy off-road stuff, such as the forest tracks where I tend to ride.

hi guys, ive just bought a kids seat and it bolts onto the frame with the bracket but the front gear change cable runs down it to,will it have any lasting affect on the gear changing and cable itselef??i have a trailor but my daughter is getting to big for it plus it can be a nuisance because of the bulk size, came up against a locked gate on a cycle path but i couldnt get the trailor through the exit.weighs a ton as you can imagine attached to a bike.thank god for passers-by. :D

The Hamax sleepy has a special bracket that accomodates the gear cable. I don't know about other brands.

hi barnesr.the one i have is a challenge make from argos it seems to be ok,i think they are mostly the same.i would asume they check these things before selling them as most mtb have the gear cable running down the post.fingers crossed anyhoo, just need to keep tightening it so's it doesnt slip through constant bumping and jostling,
