Lets keep this simple...

Noticed today that the rear tyres had it. Starting to get serious wear and even splitting near the rim!!

Current Tyre Continental Ultra that cam with Boardman Comp. Starting to ramp up milage as well as daily commute so wanting fast and durable.

£25 Max per tyre - any recommendations and why??

gp4000s - shop around, with google you'll find them under £25

fast, light, grippy, good puncture resistance
my bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny

Glad to hear that! I've just changed to gp4000s from attack/force due to wear (not excessive wear though - just fancied a change). Didn't get them for under £25 each though!

For a different tyre that's a bit 'left field' Maxxis Xenith Hors Categorie

Got a pair of these a month ago and I have been very impressed so far. Did a 100 mile sportive on them and they gripped and rolled very well even in some very wet conditions. Couldn't find anything as good in the sub £20 bracket.

+1 to what everyone has said to Conti GP4000S ive been using 3 sets of these and done 12000 miles in total , the first pair has done 8000 miles and the wear indicator dimples are still visible and not one puncture, using these at the mo on my hybrid, , going to swap this pair soon for the second pair which ive recently taken off my road bike, these have done 3500 miles with no punctures, the third pair are on my road bike and done about 500 miles with no problems, and i think i payed about 45-50 quid a pair, well worth it though.

Michelin Krylions are good general training tyres too. Durable and p*ncture resistant.
