Given recent experience I'd stay in the UK or get on a ferry...0

We went to Majorca a few years back, took our nephew for company for our son. Spent 2k+ on the holiday going for the all inclusive assuming that the kids would stay around the pool etc.
Oh no, pool was crap, hotel was distinctly average and we spent all the 2 weeks on the beach and spent about £1200 as well because of the Euro rate.
My reccomendation? Get a cheap flight over to Millan Bergamo or Malpensa and spend a few days at Lake Como (ie catch the train from Milan to Como and simply hop on a bus and jump off at any village which takes your fancy. Go to TI and ask for a local B&B.
I'd reccomend Mennagio, parents have a house there.
Food is cheap as long as you stay out of the hotels, pizzerias etc are good value and the weather there at the moment will be be very nice. They've had 24 days of rain so you'll be due some serious sunshine.
Have some tasters...
And best of all, you can eat horse:-Advocate of disc brakes.0 -
Oh, and if you walk into the hills you can amaze your other half by constantly saying "look at that line" or "thats do-able"
well, amaze might not be the right word...Advocate of disc brakes.0 -
What about France?
Train down to London, Eurostar over to Paris, change at Paris and on to ????
You could also look at cheap deals for cruises in the Med.
I would say, come to the Isle of Man, but I'd not subject anyone to that horror! (although TT starts in just under 2 weeks)0 -

Its a stunning place, plus which, Milan is only an hour away on the train if you want to take in the city for a day.
If you want any pointers about the place just ask me on here or send a PM.Advocate of disc brakes.0 -
Yeah the Italian Lakes are a winner it's just getting there if you don't fancy flying.
The Euro star to Avingonwould be worthwhileI'm going to blow the bank on a new build ( within reason ) NOW DONE!!

I went to Hisaronu in Turkey last year and it was fab, people were friendly, food and drink was cheap, it was hot. Its up in the mountains, about ten minutes from the beach on a Dolmus (bus) which cost about a quid.
If you want the sea then Olu Deniz was where the beach was, but it was a bit dearer and not as lively, Hisaronu had good bars and shops and was very english in its clientelle0
