RockShox Pike coil u-turns

Hi guys,
I've had the stock coil that comes with the Pikes that are on the Pitch Pro for a year now.
I'm new to this whole changing parts thing so only just realised I could change my coil for better sag.
I'm 15 stone wet through and my sag was like 66% with the stock coil.
So I changed it over today for an x-firm and then rechecked my sag.
I was saddened to see that it's exactly the same as before!
Does anyone have any suggestions that may help?
Cheers

have you set the damping to the fastest?
how are you positioned on the bike when measuring?

The damping is on Rabbit so I guess that's the fastest.
To position myself on the bike I get on very slowly and then just sit on it in a normal position, hands on the handle bars and feet on the pedals...

So the fork is compressing 80mm or so in the longest travel setting?

Longest travel setting is 140mm and it goes down to 120mm or so when sat there.
I wasn't measuring it that way though. I measured it by taking the 45mm of travel and dividing that into the movement when sat on the bike which is 30mm.
    Is that wrong?

    Yes, very wrong lol.

The sag is the percentage it moves under your weight of the total travel.

So 20/140 is only 14% or so.

You should ideally measure it stood on the bike.

But the total travel of my fork is not 140mm. The fork goes from 95 to 140mm so that's a travel of 45mm. No?

No, that is the total adjustment.

The travel is 95 to 140mm depending on your setting.

I'm sorry for being so dim but you're losing me here!
The 45mm difference between the 95mm and 140mm is not travel but adjustment?
And what do you mean 'the travel is 95 to 140mm depending on your setting'?
Isn't that the same as above?
    Sorry again.

Travel is the total amount that the fork can move while in use.
The travel is 95mm when you wind it down to where it says "95mm" on the fork.
The travel is 140mm when it's on the mark where it says "140mm".
The difference between these two is not "travel", it's just the difference between the travel settings.

To measure sag, you take the total travel and measure the percentage of the full travel that the forks move when you put your weight on it. So:
    (assuming full travel) 140mm/100 = 1.4 (1%)
    30mm (sag) / 1.4 = 21.4% sag

    Genius!!
Thankyou so much for letting me know how this works! Looks like my sag is spot on then!!
Back to the original question: Does anyone know why the sag is the same on the x-firm coil and the stock medium coil. Just seems strange.
Although my method was wrong, the results were the same :?

Yeah, 21% sag sounds about right, but it is odd that it should be the same with both coils... Does it ride any different to you? Did you have the compression damping on at all or anything when you measured it the first time?

Bike is currently in bits at the moment but will test tomorrow and see how it rides.
    Thanks again
