Matching seat and bar tape

I'm building up my own bike and have already bought a black seat for it. I think that it would look good with white bar tape (until it gets dirty) as I have a white stem and black bars.

I'm just in two minds as to whether it would look better with the seat and bar tape matching.

Thanks

Changed my black saddle for a white one, with white bar tape. Looks better, but also I had white saddle i'm comfortable with so sold black one that came with new bike

I agree. White looks good. I'm going to swap my current black saddle for my old white one, but instead of white bar tape I'm going to try some Italian tricolore tape which I hope will look good with the colour of my bike. I don't suppose I'll know until I try it!

I'm thinking I'll go with the white tape/black seat for now and see how it looks built.

Also, are those gel pads that you can get to go under the tape any good? On my current bike I've just got that padded tape with the bits of cork in it and that's been perfectly adequate even on longer rides.
