steel and ti are pretty much forever, and aluminium seems to go the distance. So where do all those frames end up, I keep hoping to find a gem at the dump. Okay so the geometry has changed a lot, but some classic frames look very contemporary with sloping down tubes etc. And will people be riding round on 10 year old carbon frames.

My old wolf ridge is really getting old now, but is still in great condition mechanically. I mean, the paint is scuffed and so on, but the frame itself looks good for another 12 years or so.

I'm reliably informed that my 16 year old Timberline FS frame is still going strong.
    Heavy, but bomb proof
Wish I hadn't given it away.

Both my frames are '07 i believe, and my scott frame is being replaced by an '07 commencal. I wouldn't go any older than that for a 'modern' bike. Wouldn't mind a nice retro ride though.

My Kraken frame looks like it was in the bottom of a ditch for a few years, fork stantions were just about rusted through, cleaned up and resprayed and the headset is in my commuter!

I could go and get a BSO and then it would be a day old and wouldn't cost much.

It would be worth it

My xc120 is just over three years old, and apart from a few scratches and abit of cable rub I reckon it looks pretty good for it's age. Most of the components have been replaced, only frame, bars, stem, seatpost and shifters are original
