Do I need a different tyre?

I bought some Specialized Roubaix Armadillo Elite Tyres in January and have just had to bin one. Both front and rear tyres have had a puncture and the inner tube is now showing through a slit in the fron tyre.

The roads I commute 14 miles a day on (4 days a week) have quite a lot of debris on from road works.

Is this as good as I can expect from a puncture resistant tyre?

Depends how puncture resistant you want to go. I use 28mm schwable marathon +'s. They're heavy, don't have the best grip or the best rolling resistance, but 4500 miles later I've not had a single puncture. To put that inperspective the tyres that came with the bike were puncturing on average every 80 miles.

IIRC there is a 25mm marathon pro, but is is still large and hugely slow.
