I was in the market for an all mountain do everything bike, something to last and not require the price of a bike in upgrades. I prefer to idea of a bomb proof bike to allow some room for error as after the break I have had, I might aswel be brand new to the sport and would be alot more confident knowing my bike could take a few bad hits.
Currently I am riding a Trance X4 which is a fantastic bike, but on the rougher descents feels a bit sketchy & the suspension does not inspire confidence in some of the more technical singletrack. I got the bike through a Cycle2Work scheme as funding was low, with the intention to upgrade to something a bit more burley and capable and decided to eventually grab a Reign 2.
Now I have just been offered a brand new Reign X1 for an awesome price, the thing looks fantastic and pictures really do not do it any justice. It’s decked out with almost everything I would ever think to need bar a possible wheel upgrade in the future.
Now as much as this thing does seem completely overkill, the overall spec for the money I have been offered is proving very tempting against the Reign 2, the only question is, is it really too much for trail riding? And will I just be better getting a 2010 bike and pass on the opportunity.
