SMBLA MBL guiding in Italy - does anyone know if possible

Hi there,
I am currently starting on the road to become an SMBLA MBL, I hope at the end to operate in Italy but I see that there is a big difference between qualification around Europe. France now only accepts MB guides with an International Mountain Leader award, while in Spain it seems to be fine to operate with only a SMBLA MBL and first aid cert. Does anyone know what the current status is in Italy. I have been in touch with the SMBLA and they are looking into it but do not really have any idea?
Can anyone cast some light on this.
