I'm planning on riding the Sustrans route 8 from Cardiff to Holyhead.
I'll be ridng in a group, not sure if we're camping or b&bing it.
Just a few questions:
What bike, mtb or roadie?
whats the terrain like?
Any recommendations for accommodation/campsites & food stops on the way?

Thanks in advance

i can only say for anglesey and into snowdonia a bit but the roads on the sustrans routes 5 & 8 are mainly B roads with some A roads, you might come across a dirty road where a tractor etc has been and some potholes but i would say you`d be fine on a road bile

  • A road bike will be fine.

Do a search on this forum on Lon Las Cymru and you'll get loads of advice of the type that you need.

I rode my own variation the the Lon Las Cymru some years ago. I took in some off road options for added interest but there were always road routes available. Thoroughly enjoyed it - especially the remote mid=Wales section (ie most of it)
