Hi All,
Having just traded in my road bike for a MTB today i have a few questions.
1.What kind of stuff should i be taking out with me on a long ride?
2. Any ideas for a budget lock for the bike? will only be locked up at uni etc
3. has anybody tried/got an opinion on the flat SPD pedals that can be used with trainers and SPD's?
Thanks!
Ben

Long ride:
Spare innertubes, few tools, hydration, some energy food, camera, waterprrof if your setting off without one, warm layer fi your setting off without one. That kind of thing
I'm not too clever on locks, never really looked.
Flat pedals/Clip pedals!!!!! Hmmmmm Check outthe debate going on in general forum! There are lots of opinions! :-)0 -
Long ride:
Plenty of water
Spare tube/s
Puncture repair kit
Pump
Waterproof
Multi tool
Phone
Bit of cash
If your going out for longer, i.e weekend take a spare mech hanger and tyre boot
As for locks kryptonite are the best but not the cheapest0 -
Don't skimp on a lock at uni! Two of my housemates have had bikes knicked even when they were locked up (crappy locks) so use a decent lock!
Uni is one big target for bike theives.0 -
Dont get one with braided SS wire and loops with crimps, they are easily cut at the loop and off comes the padlock, try get ones with covered loops0

"only locked up at uni" - say goodbye unless you buy a worthwhile lock - minimum = Abus Granit X Plus. Don't go for anything less if you are regularly locking up in a public place. Also, uni is a magnet for bike thieves, its like a superstore to them.0

What bike did you buy?0

the best bike lock : keep your bike in your room0

Agreed - Decent lock for anywhere I'd say!
Long ride - Don't forget the tyre levers too... Which is what I did the other day :oops:http://i556.photobucket.com/albums/ss9/ ... lurLT2.jpg
