That link is what I always send to ppl with a grand to spend you sound like you know what you want already and I thing the boardman seems to be the most popular bike on this forum and I can see why.
The Pinnarello FP1 is a fantastic bike for a grand and in my eyes the best bike you can have for a grand Its the lightest bike in the 1K bracket only problem is it's sora components but over time can be upgraded Pinnarello spent all the money doing the frame and making it light and strong so thats why the compnents are kind of lower end.
Or why not try a trek second hand It's the only bike I ride now since I started using them I used to have a scott but when I tried trek it was nice and something I felt very comfortable on which again is down to individual choice.
P.s if you do go for the FP1 then buy a size lower the link will explain why.
Good luck let us all know what you got.

I'm not 100% on the bikes complete weight but I know the frame itself which it states on the link below shows its 1400g which is very light for a bike of that costing and the frame is the most robust in that bracket to. Not only that I think it look sgreat which isn't the importance of selecting a bike but nothing wrong with adding it as one of your deal breakers.

I brought the equivalent pinarello - the surprise about 8 years ago. It was a f***n awesome bike - first time Ispun the pedals - i thought someone had shoved me from behind - the acceleration is incredible - I really wouldn't worry to much about the groupset - I commute daily on Sora - and the shifting is silky smooth.
The other thing about pinarello - is the resale value - mine cost me just over a grand - 8 years back - I recently sold it for £550 !
Put some pro race 3's on that Pinarello - and the speed will take your breath away !
Don't die never having owned a Pinarello0 -
I got a Caad 8 about 5 months ago, really can not fault the bike, comfortable, quick, looks good, and all for £750.
I researched for a while and it was this or the Caad 9 for me. Try them both, and it depends what you want the thing for......0 -
im actully leaning toward the genesis of the 30
