Anyone used them?
My LBS will do me a deal on the XERO LITE XR-210 wheelset.
Or possibly a used pair of Fulcrum Racing 3s
I currently ride a pair of Planet X C wheels.
Which are going to be the bigger upgrade?

I have the Xero Maravilloso wheels. They are pretty good wheels, and very good for the money. I got mine from my LBS and he reckons they are slightly better wheels than Ksyrium Eqiupes (they are definitely lighter). Love the red colour too!
I've run mine now for at least 2,500 miles since early last year. I had two snapped splokes on the rear, and after the 2nd LBS/Xero replaced the wheel under warranty with no hassle. Front has been fine. LBS says my wheel is the only one he has ever had problems with and he has sold many pairs - he describes them as "bomb proof training wheels". Overall very happy with them.
The XR-210 wheels are slightly lighter again and not actually that much more expensive than the Maravilloso. I would have no hesitation in buying those - in fact I am thinking about it myself! How good a deal is your LBS offering?0 -
the deal is probably going to be trade price as he knows i can go get trade price on other stuff elsewhere...BMC TM01 - FCN 0

I have the marvalliso too...they also have the bonus of making your bike look significantly more expensive than it is. Very light - although the stated weight isn't - they certainly feel it0 -
I have a set of Xero XR-Carbon wheels. They're the best wheels I've ever used. I'm a fairly strong (but not necessarily fast ) rider and so far I've put about 7000 miles on mine and they haven't need truing and no spokes have broke. They are stiff, fairly light and good looking. I'd buy another pair as backup if they were still available.
Contrast that with another pair of cheap Xero wheels I have (can't remember model name) that are rubbish, so I think you need to look at the model rather than the brand.0 -
dodgy any chance you could find out what your cheap ones are for me please?BMC TM01 - FCN 0

They are Xero XSR-3 wheels, very box section and heavy. Supplied with my Giant TCR2 (now sold) from a few years back.0

ok fair enough, not the ones im looking at then.
he claims that his team (that do quite well) have been riding them this season and theyve been a decent wheelset for thatBMC TM01 - FCN 0

I have been using the XR-210 for over a year now and they are still running true. I've heard a few complaints about them flexing, but I've not experienced anything noticeable. Reasonably light and look okish, if you like silly large flanges on the front, like track wheels.0
-
I found them flexible. Think I had XCR-1s? they were light and felt it. Hubs were smooth enough. But they felt a bit fragile and wobbly.0
-
I've got XR-1's. Very light for the money and smooth bearings. People complain about them being flexible and I'd never really had an issue with that, but did a long ride yesterday and the spokes were pinging whenever I got out of the saddle. Might just need retensioning I guess, they have been going for 3 years without any attention whatsoever.0

I think the XR 210s have a higher spoke count and are slightly heavier.0 -

+2 for the marvallisos - but I had the gront bearing go lose on me after about 2K miles
Other rhan that they've been great (they are now on my winter bike)0
