Heavier rear wheel?

Due to a hub problem, I've substituted an older, heavier rear wheel (on a carbon-framed HT) for the next couple of weeks (incl a race on Sunday). Seems ok, but handling feels a bit weird, especially around corners. Is this a sensible thing to do? - any thoughts or similar experiences?

should make very little difference, Unless there is something wrong with the wheel.

If the rim is not the same width you will have a different tyre profile that could effect feel and grip.

Thanks nicklouse. Think I'll give it a shot. The back wheel feels a bit squidgy round the corners with the 1.5 road tyre on there at present, but hopefully this will be les noticeable off-road with a 2.1. Its does feel quite weird though tbh, I think because the bike is so light (about 10kgs), and so the added weight / rotating mass at the back is very noticeable. Enjoyed honking it on some climbing intevals yesterday, so if I can survive the decents and twisty singletrack, should be ok. Also looks like a dry weekend, which will help!
