Glasgow isn't in the north of Scotland...0

Site we use and always recommend for reviews is http://www.ukcampsites.co.uk/
Also worth looking at Camping and Caravan Club who have good sites in that part of Scotland, from Loch Lomond up through Glencoe and all the way to Inverewe. Not the cheapest sites, but good facilities.
Funnily enough, coming from Scotland, I've never camped there so can't help with a site I've visited.

There's the Red Squirrel campsite in Glencoe, but beware the midges!!!! There's also a nice campsite up Glen Nevis (Glen Nevis campsite??), 10 Minutes drive from Fort William, which I've used and recommend.
However, would go with what the other poster said; try Camping and Caravan Club for recommendations. Anything near the mountains will be frequented by climbers who, by and large, don't care where they pitch a tent!!0 -

Visit Scotland/accommodation/caravanning and camping
Or Accommodation Directory Search
Visit Scotland (Scottish tourist board) also do a map of the best, according to them, campsites. You should be able to get one from any Visit Scotland office.A fanatic is one who can’t change his mind and won’t change the subject - Churchill0 -

The one at Blair Atholl (in the castle grounds) is huge and very popular (so you need to book early to get in). Loads of facilities for families and those who like to "drum up" a 3 course pub supper by going to the restaurant!
At the other end of the scale, the Airport at Barra has a cold water tap, is free, and you wake up to some of the best views imaginable (especially, if you climb the dunes behind it.)0 -
Does the beach park at Irvine allow camping ?0

Resipol on the West Coast (Ardnamurchan penninsula) is great. Gairloch (Big Sands is another gem. Clachtoll Beach is good as is Applecross (Cycle the Bealach na Ba before breakfast)
You can probably tell I like the West Coast but where you go depends on what sort of holiday you are looking for.

If you have the nipper, try a Wigwam, might be less hastle and a bit more comfy.
Just google wigwam holidays,
Or there are wee cabins at the Macdonald Hotel in Kinlochlevin0 -
The campsite at applecross is lovely (has a large cafe on sight should the weather suck- also has the camping cabins)
Durness campsite is right next to the beach and that stretch of coastline is amazing.blog: bellevedere0 -
And there is a lovely climb at Applecross if you have the time0

Rosemarkie on the Black Isle is nice - short walk to a spot where you will see dolphins about 20 foot out off the beach, nice walk further round the coast, it isn't your dramatic highland mountain setting but it is very nice. There are two sites there - one camping and caravan one and one which is a bit more basic but still OK - both right on the beach.
it's a hard life if you don't weaken.0
