Hi, I am planning a leisure trip to Cannes, France with some non-cycling friends this September. We will be driving from the Netherlands. As it is not a cycling trip and I am the only cyclist in the group, I am deciding whether or not to take my bike. Does anybody have any experience/advice about what the cycling in this area is like? Is it particularly hilly? Will I have to travel far out of Cannes to get some nice route? I will have the benefit of friends riding along with me in the car with drinks, energy bars and moral support if necessary
Any and all advice is welcome and appreciated,
Cheers,
Andy

I should probably add that I'm not a climber, living in the Netherlands I have never had to do much climbing, but this doesn't mean I am against hilly routes.0

Did St Tropez to Monaco during Filmfest /Grandprix time last year a on a Brompton folder staying down at sea level all the way.Its still very very scenic ,blue coves, famous names like Juan les pins etc etc There are cycle lanes in parts. Some bottlenecks of traffic is parts push you off the road just as you leave Nice but theres not too much of this. The route has three coastal roads or "Corniches"at different heights. The highest is a motorway.Lower one hugs to coast line The middle one (moyen corniche)will take more effort but maybe you get the rewards being higher.Didnt do it..Best bits I liked St Rapheal to Cannes coast via Cap Roux..Side roads down to the beach in this area lead to great views .Nice to Monaco..(cycle the grand prix Curcuit)..Antibbes and its Peninsula.Trains are bikefriendly(subject to how crowded) so you can to go one way to say St Raphael by train and pedal baclk.jc0
