Faulty 2010 lyriks?

I got a set of 2010 rockshox lyrik 2 step air forks about a month ago and although they are an awesome fork I think they may be faulty, no matter how I set the low speed or high speed compression it seems to make no difference, the fork doesn't stiffen up at all, the floodgate works fine and locks the fork up pretty solid. I've followed the instructions on SRAM's site but it still makes no difference....so what do you think? Could they be faulty?or am I just stupid and not setting them up properly?

Sometimes the changes are very subtle.

Low speed compression will resist fork movement when pedalling and braking. High speed will control the fork and sharp hits. You may not feel much if you just compress the fork normally.

Admittedly yes, just pushing down on them, although when braking they do seem to dive quite a bit, should be going to dalby in the next week so I'll have a play about with them there, I posted this on the commencal forum and got a reply from a guy with similar forks who said that he couldn't tell any difference either when just pushing down on them but did out on the trails.... I was concerned because my brother has some 09 lyriks and although they only have one compression knob it really makes a noticeable difference when just pushing down on them..
