Just recieved a thorn sherpa frame to replace my koga world traveller I have new deore kit but wondering would i be better using 5 year old xt kit from the koga. is xt kit that much better?

Not for the money I would warrant. If the old xt kit serves your purposes and functions correctly then I can't think of one good reason why you would consider upgrading.
