Are tyre widths interchangable?

Hi all, this may be a silly question but, I've got a Giant Defy 1 which in the info said that it's tyre size was 700x 23C but it turned out to be 700x25C. Can I safely put a pair of 23's on it or will it bugger my bike up?
If you buy it, they will come...
...up to you and say, you didn't want to buy one of them!!!

I have gone from a 28 to a 25 to a 23 without any problems as yet after two years. And actually I have had less punctures, but maybe that is down to buying better quality tyres.

Unless the roads in your area are perfectly smooth, you'll be faster and more comfortable on 25mm tyres.0

Thanks for the replies, it's not so much the comfort I'm worried about as the apparent unavailability of new tyres in a 25, all my usual suspects seem to have dropped that size in favour of 23's.If you buy it, they will come...

speaking of tyres, are any of the online companies doing specials on tyres at the moment in doubles (in 700x25)?
The tyres I'm running are bloody terrible as they have massive rolling resistance.0 -
I went for 6 months without a puncture and have had a few in the last 6 weeks.
Was recommended a Specialized Roubaix Armadillo Elite which is sized at 700 23/25c.
Have been out twice on this and found it to be more comfortable and is supposed to be less resistant and is claimed to be virtually puncture proof?
Had my first puncture putting it on my wheel though, half hour fight with it as very tight to fit and managed to catch my inner tube. Now it is on and I am impressed, don't fancy changing if out and do get a puncture.
Hoping it is as good as it says it is.0
