Has anyone tried an Antares after riding an Arione? In part 6 of my saddle quest Im currently trying an Arione. its the most comfortable one ive tried so far i think. However, i still slide forward a little bit as the rear of the saddle is a bit raised. my sit bones are annoyingly shaped

As far as i can tell from online pics the Antares is a bit wider and flatter. Has anyone been able to compare the two, what you think? i think if the Arione was completely flat it would be perfect. ah well...

I've had both in the past. Found the Arione very comfortable on a Condor carbon bike that I had. I bought the Antares to match the colour scheme of the BMC Pro Machine. I find that Antares a little harder to sit on after a couple of hours - not as comfortable for me as the Arione.

Is the antares flatter across the whole length do you think?

I have both, and the Antares is still not totally flat from front to back, there is a little kick up at the rear. It is much like the Arione in profile from front to back, but is wider and flater in profile when viewed end on.

I actually get on better with the Antares on long rides, as it supports my sit bones better than the Arione, which can tend to feel like it is spreading my sit bones a bit with its convex side profile.

All this just goes to further illustrate the very subjective nature of saddle comfort once again...

I don't currently have them both to compare but it feels that way. A little less padding and less contouring seemingly. Did a 6 hour ride on the Antares recently and that was getting to be enough by the end! Rode for hours on the Arione and never felt quite as bad.

Have a look on the Fizik website-they have the 3 different A's saddles for different riders, are you a Bull or a Snake etc (effectively how flexible is your lower back). They have basic tests on there to see which type of rider you are, and then recommend the saddle that best fits you. I bought the Antares on the back of this-did a Half Ironman yesterday (the 90km bike section in shorts which have effectively no padding) and the Antares was great (good padding on nose as well-useful for riding on tri bars).
