Ok so my company have somewhat belatedly joined the ride to work scheme. I already own a Zesty 514 (just waiting for the frame to snap now! ) but while I do so I was thinking of investing in a second bike.

I started off hankering over my old hardtail that I let go a few years back. Should I go for something retro and light...and old. Just to knock about the town on? Maybe some training rides and light xc? Could probably pick a reasonable one up for a couple of hundred.

Then I thought...hmmm...Cycle to Work scheme....and am considering a hartail upto £1k. (Can't go over unfortunately). But then is that defeating the object of having a "dirt cheap" 2nd hand bike? Maybe not if you're saving 50%.

So...any recommendations for something quite different from the Zesty. Maybe a bit racey and less travel. Or maybe one of the On-One range. Maybe Inbred 29er.

Oh i dunno....suggestions?

I'll get shot down for it  but what about a road/CX bike?

If not, a Cube LTD? I'm not sure on the range but I'm pretty certain there's one @ £1k.
