Are we looking forward to the World Cup

With the ECL final in a week and the end of the regular season with it we'll be getting bombarded with the World Cup soon (indeed it's all started already...Terry's "injury" etc).

So setting aside the nonsense media guff around the sidelines who is looking forward to the tournament, who is hating the idea and who is neither...though if that's the case why are you looking at this thread?? 8)

For me I'm genuinely excited, as a unusual England supporting Scot (of course I support Scotland first) I'm really hopeful that they can do well, but regardless there'll be plenty of great football and drama to fill the evenings.

Looking forward to a festival of football and no added stress of caring about the winner helps.

Unfortunately, I am worried that this will be the cheat's World Cup with some players spending more time on the grass than on the ball.
None of the above should be taken seriously, and certainly not personally.

Not really. Will be the usual poor first match followed by one really good one... after which everyone predicts England to win the cup. Then a few mediocre ones and all down to whether some unknown team from a third world country score 1 or 2 goals so that England can squeeze through on points difference.

Then we go out at the first knock out match - on penalties

Am sure it will grow on me but right now Im more worried that Spurs players may get injured or not have enough rest before the start of next proper football season, i,e; club football, the be all and end all of the game, nothing compares :P . International matches are usually quite boring anyway, no atmosphere in the ground either as they are full of tourists and corporate fat cats on junkets not folk like me who sell a kidney for a season ticket and hope it grows back for next season.

    Ho hum  .

Yes, I'm looking forward to it but 2011 is still a long way off and TBH I can't see beyond one of the big 3 SH countries winning it again with Wales going out in the quarter finals.

There is nothing exciting about watching Italy play football  Was out visiting some of our properties this afternoon and my Colleague had talksport on in his car "Its a failure if we dont win the World Cup due to the amount of money Capello is paid", er, Bollox! I`m looking forward to it, even though my beloved Ireland were cheated out of a chance to qualify

I bought a new telly last week and Currys have a promotion where you get £10.00 for every goal England score.

Can`t beleive I`ll be sitting there rooting for England to score goals - my dad would kill me if he found out - lol

    I love it.

It was mental in my local last time. I take my 20" diameter drum in to help keep the atmosphere going. :P

Can't see England doing anything but the usual, play crap/boring squeezing past mediocre opponents before fortutously getting into the last eight. We then contrive to get ourselves knocked out in some kind of hard-luck/chucked it away scenario.

    I am. I can't wait. I'm a football nut.

I'll start off hoping England do well but as the media hysteria hits fever pitch I'll be hoping they go out as soon as possible!

12 years ago I took the forst 2 weeks of the world cup off so I could watch 3 games a day. Now I have sort of fallen out of love with the game to be honest, mainly because of the amount of money and hype involved, but also because of all the diving and feigning injury to get players booked/sent off. I'm kind of looking forward to it, but I won't be making a special effort to watch games. I have a week off booked for 21st June but am heading up to Fort William for 5 days and will spend most of that time just enjoying the scenery with maybe the odd visit to a pub to watch a game
