Sorry if this has been done before, but I would welcome any recommendations for a decent winter/trainer and commuter using the cycle to work scheme – so my budget is £1000.00.

So far, I have looked at the Genesis Equilibrium.

Cheers

    Hi,

I have a Ridgeback Century for exactly that purpose.

It's a really nice bike. Steel Frame, reasonably light, looks great, mudguards, 28mm tyres. attachment points for a rack if required.

The only downside for some people is the Sora groupset. I have no problems with this. Sora is also very durable and cheap to replace which is perfect for a winter trainer / commuter.

The bike is also cheaper then the Equilibrium at rrp £799.99. So under your budget giving you something spare.

By the way Genesis and Ridgeback are the same company.

    Hi

I wanted an all-rounder for my cycling, and have ended up getting a Kinesis Racelight TK2 which would meet your criteria. Ended up spending more than £1,000, but that was as a result of upgrading various bits of kit on the bike. Went to Epic Cycles for this and must say its a fantastic service they offer. Am just waiting for the bike to be built (they are waiting for campag shifters)

    Regards
