Afternoon forum people,

So after searching the forum and reading all the threads on Campag Eurus & Zonda I still feel myself wanting more information - sorry I know this is a perpetually asked question

I am 92kg and hopefully dropping as the year goes on

At my weight will the Eurus suffer ?

Will I suffer from the harsh alloy spokes ? :x

Should I just forget the Eurus and go for the Zonda ?

or should I confuse myself even more by throwing Fulcrum into the mix ? :?

My main riding is reliability, audax, commuting, sportives, club runs and general love of cycling pleasure riding :D
Regards

The campag wheels....esp the higher end ones like Eurus , Zonda and Boras are known to be bomb prrof...even for 90kg+ ridersIf it's between the Eurus and the Zondas, I'd go for the Zondas since the small weight diffeence wouldn't make that much impact on the kind of riding your doing.

the Eurus are expensive but v.v.nice. Why not just get some repairable handbuilts. I was away in Spain last week and the owner of the place I stayed was riding on a pair of IRD rims with Ambrosio hubs from Wheelsmith. Cost him £250.

I did in fact earlier this week go on the wheelsmith site and view those exact wheels - though I felt I wanted them, I didn't know why - maybe the IRD factor ? They are a new name to me :o I couldn't find any independent reviews for any of their products :?:

maybe someone on here can point me in the right direction - IRD anyone ?

can we declare a fatwa on emoticons? :-X

No seriously, I had a pair of Fulcrum 1s for a summer in 2006 - they might have changed a lot since 06 but they're OK wheels, nothing special - no too light, not too delicate, not too harsh, not too comfortable. Basically they were £500 tofu - a bit bland and blah and hard to really love.

the deal breaker and why I sold them was getting tyres on - impossible except with Contis which are some of the loosest tyres going.
