edited May 2010 in MTB buying advice
After my first bike and spending a bit of time browsing the forum I decided to get a GT Outpost 2010

http://www.langsettcycles.co.uk/products.php?plid=m1b0s2p6387

as recommended in the buying guide (don't want to spend too much in case I don't get into riding)

Since then I've seen this

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/DAWES-XC2-0-20-GENTS-GLOSS-SAND-MOUNTAIN-BIKE-NEW-/330371647148?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_Bikes_GL&hash=item4cebaf46ac

I'm pretty sure it's the 2009 model but still looks like it's got a good spec for the price and definately beats the GT Outpost for another 30 quid (in my opinion)

Was hoping someone could confirm this for me (or give better advice) as being new to this it's confusing and easy to make a mistake which I don't want to cost me 300 quid

It is a good bike for the money. But will it fit?

It isn't that much better than what you have though. If you want to see a real difference, you need to spend 500 quid.

Ahh my fault post wasn't clear, I haven't got the GT yet so it's a comparison.

I know I'm taking the risk buying a bike without trying it but I might nip to Halfords to see what sizes fit me (I'm 6'2 so assume I'll need a fairly big bike)

I also got a bit confused as the talk in the buying guide seemed to say bikes from the last few years have better specs for the money than the new ones so the dawes seemd a good buy

Just wanted someone to confirm that it's a better bike really

Thanks bud (might see you up in Greno woods sometime :)

It is worth the extra over the GT,

    Halfords don't stock Dawes mind.
