This Saturday's Times newspaper has a pullout guide to 'the best bike rides in the UK' and a voucher worth 30% off at Evans.

Just thought I'd mention it.

Christ, and I thought that my poor dear grandmother, who worked as Madam Taleda in Barry Island as a tarot card reader and fortune teller was bloody good!

You've got the "Gift" man! Have you had a Flash Forward by any chance?

    30% off what...anything?

    Thanks for the heads-up...

( PS, What are Saturdays Lottery numbers?)

Why are MTB economics; spend twice as much as you intended, but only half as much as you wish you could afford?

Wow, 30% off at Evans, might even make them competitive.
It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.

    I've bought a new bike....ouch - result
    Can I buy a new bike?...No - no result

how long does the voucher last as I doubt I'l be buying anything soon....

is it really worth buying something I never read for a 30% discount

if it's generic code like evans30 I'll wait for it to turn up on myvouchercodes.com or something otherwise I'll just have to cough up 50p or something :D

Quid odd for The Times on Saturday. Quality newspaper anyway, everyone should read it. I think it will be a generic code mind. There's the supplement about the UK's best rides too, that's worth a read probably.

They do price match which I've taken advantage of on all the last big purchases in there. £25 off a night vision jacket, £25 off an Abus lock, £20 off XT SPDs, £6 off a Giro helmet.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

the voucher is only for 30% off selected bikes and 25% off specialised helmets. Not worth unless you want these!

Is the pull out any good ?

Ha. I went in last week for a bottom bracket, purely because it's local. And I told them Chain Reaction was doing it for half the price, so I was asked if I had an iphone or something to show them. Which I didn't, so they refused to price match it. I'm pretty sure Evans have the internet...

I always take a print of the web-page with me and they have always matched the price :0)

Altura Evo Night Vision Jacket - £66 instead of £90
Altura Night Vision Waterproof trousers £30 instead of £60 (even the guy was surprised)!
Heavy Duty lock - £40 instead of £70
    Pedals, pumps etc, etc!

Plus all the guys at West Croydon branch are great and very helpful

I bought the TImes today and tried the codes. Its only valid an a very limited number of bikes, mainly the more obscure ones.

The Fuji Roubaix 3 wasn`t a bad deal if you want an entry level road bike for £469.

I usually bookmark better prices on my phone and pull them up in the shop but it seems the Bristol branch can access the usual sites. When I've mentioned pricematch in the past they have just asked the site and accessed it at the till, only once has the salesgirl had to behind the scenes for a pricematch check.

not really worth the buy then! What's the pullout guide like?
  • Bit misleading all round this to be honest. I saw the advert too, and though "ooh I'll pick that up"

But as has been said the discount is only on certain bikes and specialized helmets.

And the pullout, I'd assumed would be a magazine like the other bits the Times do, but it was just a few pages in the paper. Brief discription of the ride/route and thats about it. No actual route details or anything.

    Token effort I suspect.
    Do it.

Thought the whole supplement was a waste of time the routes are very touristy very few of the trail centres, or ones they have researched, DONT BOTHER and the voucher is a CON as already stated !!!!!
