Looking over my Garmin data my av seems to be around 16.mph (moving). I hit a fair few lights and am reliant on GPS tracking only (no wheel) sensor, so that's not gonna be super accurate, but I am consistent. Here are my last few from the Garmin:
    16.6
    16
    16.3
    17.8
    14.1
    16.6
    16.8
    16.6
    17.4
    18.7
    15.3
    18.5
    17.2
    15.9
    16.3
    17.8

    Thanks for all your replies!

I don't live in Croydon so can't join you in this gang, but I was planning on cycling in from near Oxted a few times a week as training.

Google maps also points me in the direction of the A23, basically going through Purley and skimming Croydon (so probably the same route most of you guys take), though because I'm further South I might be able to get onto a better route than the A23.

    It's 25.7 miles each way.

Just trying to work out whether it's worth it though - I might try it next week to see how I get on. I'm assuming that it'll take 2 hours each way basically.
