bag advice

Since fitting a new saddle, I have been having trouble getting my faithfull top peak medium size bag to fit. Modifying both the saddle bracket and the clip on the bag wasn’t very successful. Basically, the clip on the top of the bag hits the rear of the seat post before it clicks home. For interest, my new saddle is a Charge Spoon on a Specialized Pave seat post. The rails look a similar shape to my old Fizik Pave CP but maybe there is a small difference that is causing the problem. I do tend to have my saddle set forward somewhat but nothing extreme. I have been looking at other bags or even a wide mouth drinking bottle to carry my “essentials” such as spare inner tube, puncture repair outfit, mini pump, multi tool kit and occasionally a mobile phone and house keys. The good thing about the top peak bag was the elastic straps beneath which could hold a windproof/waterproof top. Any recommendations for a suitable "day" bag?

I have the Edinburgh Revolution adventure bag behind me. For 17 quid or something you get a two tied saddle bag complete with tools. It's all I need tbh. Comes without tools also btw. Reviewed in C+ a few months ago also.

I know exactly what you mean because I too have a Spoon which I need as far forward as I can get it, and a Topeak clip on bag.

At the moment it's a bit of a compromise in that the saddle's a bit further back than is best, and the bag is kind of scrunched up a bit where it hits the seatpost, but the clip does click in securely.

Still seeking a better solution. Considered a zero setback seatpost to get the saddle forwards with enough rail at the back to accommodate the bag. Even thought about a seatpost mounted rack for the bag

I had the same issue 'cos of the seatpost shape on the Look 586. The Topeak was crushed and although I eventually got it to clip on the stress has caused the rails on the bag to break.

I've just got a Lezyne bag to replace it because it uses straps instead of hard plastic clips.....I'll need to wait to see if it's durable.

Get the Topeak, but with the straps, rather than the clip option.

+1 just bought a tidy aero Topeak at halfords, just big enough for a tube and flatties kit, and some cash - it clips off and velco fastens around the aero stem too - perfect
