What's the difference (if any) between these 2 external BB cups and can you use either for a FC 5600 crank ?

As far as I am aware the Shimano external BB cups from Sora up to Dura-Ace are the same size. I suspect the increase in cost / reduction in weight as you go up the range is due to different materials and possibly better seals being used.

Need some new bearings for a 105 crank set, so I was about to ask the same question. Just looked on wiggle and the bottom bracket cups were priced as follows:

    Tiagra 4500 - £14
    105 5600 - £24
    Ultegra 6700 - £26
    DA 7900 - £27

DA or tiagra looks like the best value to me.

On Parkers the Tiagra one is only £10.25, I'm going for that.

i ordered a tiagra one yesterday from chainreaction, 13quid with free delivery. shipping confirmation was sent this morning too so should be here tomo.

i assume its just materials/minimal weight gains in the difference. the tiagra one i've had since i bought the bike has lasted 2 years riding all year round so didnt see a point getting a more expensive one :?
