Hey me again lol.
Want a set of lights, looking at cateye and wondered if anyone can recommend some. Does nt appear to be anyone leaving a review in the article section.
No specific budget will probably only using in the dark occasionally but not too sure yet so want to be prepared for any event.
Thanks guys

You haven't left a budget, but if you've got £20 you'll find these good value for money. I've run two sets over winter and they've done me well. Nice and bright front and rear.

What are you using them for ie:
streetlit areas or unlit country lanes?
If the latter, many of cateye's offerings of front lights are a complete waste of time.0 -
Ah yes sorry was thinking no more than £35 and yes some country roads with no street lights sadly.0
-
If you can upto 50 quid you can get the magic shine light.
35 will get you a p7 torch, charger and cells.0 -
Are cateye el520 or el 530 any good do you know?0

Bit outside budget but hope vision 1 is excellent.

The cateye is, well, crap. More to be seen than to see.0

ok fair enough is that the concensus for cateye in general????
Just read on here somewhere that the cateye single shot is ok bar being aa bit bulky and ugly0 -
You can just get better and brighter for cheaper. the rear LEDs are ok, as are the front flashing type, but if you want to light the way their are better options.0

Ok Im ordering the hope vision one seems to get a good write up and considering its all country roads where I live probably best to be prepared.
Thaks for ypur input0 -
That is half to a third as bright as the torch for double the price lol. Pretty poor in my opinion. You can get similar outputs as the Hope for about 9 quid from Deal Extreme.0

On the other hand it will be good enough to light the way.
+1 for the comments about cateye though. Don't really know what they're playing at with their front lights, surely they need to catch up fast.0 -

They do indeed. Shame really as back in the pre-led days they made some really nice halogen lights with rechargable batteries. I had a set for 2-3 years and sold them on to a friend (who is still using them) when I switch to LED to get rid of the separate battery pod and switch.

+1 for the Hope 1, does the job, easy on/off and takes AA batteries & a British make. Just make sure you have decent powerful rechargeable batteries.0

This looks like a damn good option. Forget Cat Eye, they're overpriced and generally rubbish. The front light is made of machined alloy so better quality build than plasticky Cat Eye lights. Does the rear light have 2x1/2 watt LEDs? If so that beats the Smart 1/2 watt rear that everyone goes on about.... I'm kinda tempted although I really don't need any more lights...Do not write below this line. Office use only.0 -
Radioactiveman thats one of the reasons I am buying a Ribble if I have nt already said I live fairly locally and their gear seems competative anyhows0

The Nightsabre one looks a good price anyone else use them ??0

Yes, it's two 1/2 watt rear LEDs. Modes are constant, flashing togetther, or flashing alternately. Very bright. I use 2 of the front ones on my road bike for commuting. They were recommeneded to me by a mate who's used them for a while and is very happy. I don't really think theyre worth the £50 RRP, but at £20 I think you'd be very happy.0 -
Each to there own I guess, but I couldn't part with 70 quid for a lamp that kicks out just 200 lumens. And at that price have no batteries or charger either.0
