First commute on my new brooks saddle today. Position isn't quite right yet and it's nowhere near broken in but ye gads how have i ridden the last 7000 miles on that old peice o' crap.

It's sooo comfy. Looks a bit sh1t tho but hey, you can't see in under my fat ass.

Anyone else one here a convert?

I bought a Swallow for my mills it's a lovely saddle. I've got the less sporty B17 on the brompton again very nice.

Apparently they really last too once they've broken you in.

As I've managed to break my saddle on journey in this morning , I'll be looking in the LBS.

Any other saddles you were looking at?

I have a B17 on the tourer/commuter and wouldn't have it any other way, although mine took a good 1000 miles to break in and was very painful in that time! But now its lovely, and looks rather dashing too!

It was a toss up between a charge knife and a b17 narrow. I'm glad I made that choice, although I might get a team pro on my next bike to see what thats like.

If I had the cash I would not hesitate to get a b17 narrow imperial for am mtb or roadie or a normal b17 imperial for a more uprighty bike.

Yeah - that's what I thought. I managed to shear off an entire rail.

I'm assuming I've over-extended it, or that meal last night was the final straw...

LBS had a limited choice, so plumped for a Charge Spoon for the mean time. At least I can get home. Cycling 6 miles standing up was a good challenge first thing

Charge Spoon is a nice saddle. Really like mine. Hoping for a Cooper as my next C2W bike, which come with Brooks, so I may get to try soon! They certainly look good.

I had a B17 and couldn't wait to get rid of it. It was too big for a nice road bike - it looked like it had been fitted for a bet - and I always felt I was sitting on it rather than being part of it. I know you have to break them in but I gave it a chance; after enough time it was still wrong, and still looked utterly stupid on that bike.

Brooks are great I'll grant you that, but they're not the silver bullet that cures every single saddle issue.

I think the B17 is too wide for a road bike. The Brooks website has it as a touring and trekking saddle and most things I've read say they're great if your seat is level with the bars any higher then you need a B17 narrow or a different model. Mine is a bit hard under the perinium still but I've only put 60 odd miles on it so far other than that it's really quite nice.

Wouldn't put it on a really nice bike tho, it's a bit uggo.

Had a Brooks for about three months on the commuter and it felt as though I was riding a log - must have done the best part of 500 miles on it but it never felt comfortable. I have a WTB Laser now which is the best saddle I've ever used - and cheap - got it from CRC on offer for 25 quid leather with titanium rails

+1 for a charge spoon, go with cro-mo rails as the price increase over normal steel is small, probably not wirth paying for Ti, from my old armchair it took 3 days to get used to the CS, but now I love it.....Mine cost about £25.
