Road closure on Isle of Arran

Hi folks,
Just a note to warn anyone thinking of heading over to the Isle of Arran to do some cycling.
The 'String Road' that goes across the middle of Arran from Brodick to Blackwaterfoot is closed until about the beginning of July. This is to all traffic and is being enforced by installing locked gates across the road and CCTV cameras !
The closure means that to get across the Island you will add about 20 miles to your journey.
The only road rides left are a full lap of the island which is about 58 miles and the only shorter loop is to use the Ross Road from Lamlash to Sliddery in the south, then come back round on the A841 which is about 40 miles.
As I run the Youth Hostel on the north of the Island at Lochranza I already have a few disappointed cyclists who aren't up for a full lap of the island and had planned to do a northern loop using the A841 and the 'String Road'
Riding between the ferry terminals at Brodick and Lochranza is unaffected
Regards
Steve
