Fork stanchions - Not fork handles!

Hi guys,

Quick question:

I received my new RS Revs the other day, but last night whilst checking them over, I noticed that the gold stanchions had little scratches in them, some seem just cosmetic, ie I can see silver metal but they are still smooth to the touch, whereas others, again I can see the silver metal but it catches if I run my finger nail across it which shows that the scratch is a little deeper!

Some are low-ish on the legs and some near the top of the legs, so my question is, are these scratches normal? will they cause a problem?

If I was to return them and get a better pair would I just get these kind of scratches from a few weeks riding anyway thus wasting my time swapping these over?

Pics of scratches? (if you have a camera good enough)

My stanchions are perfect, no scratches of any kind, afaik, that's how it's supposed to be.

I hope you've not got yet another set of faulty forks! :shock:

I'm not sure that my camera would be able to pick them up due to all the reflective metals, but it may seem that I have yet another dodgy set of forks!!!! Perhaps I'd have more joy buying a space hopper than a bike!

That's not normal and I wouldnt expect it on new forks, back they need to go.

You're not having much luck with forks are you?

Where are you ordering from? A name would be good so that I can avoid them like the plague!

Ahhhhh poop! it'd be quicker if I make my own forks from, excuse the pun, scratch!

So far they have been great, I guess we will see if their aftersales care is on par with the pre-sales, I have just emailed them about it.

I must add that the other 2 sets were from somewhere else, so this is the 1st time that I have dealt with them

I'm sure there will be no problems whatsoever. Probably just one of those things.

Yes, you have been unlucky.

Your stantions (or any other part of the unit) should be perfect with no imperfections.

I have used them for a frame and other bits and pieces.
