Firstly hello, great forum and lots of good advice and interesting reads.

have recently took up cycling again, after about 5 years although I am only 25 still :D and have totally got the bug now.

I am using a Halford Carrera Vanquish I have had for years and ordered a Bianchi 1885 2010 model.

If it ever gets here . . . I have had it ordered 10 weeks now, not too worried as long as it comes sometime this month as want to get into some TT etc . . . . Just wondered if anyone else is having serious issues . . . ???

I have searched and found some points but not from anyone actually having one on order and how long it took to come.

Thanks

Adam. :D

Bianchi had a huge fire at their factory where they paint them and it has destroyed alot of stock.

It doesn't help you I'm afraid. You can maybe drop a line to the Bianchi importer Cycleurope.
The usual caveats still apply when waiting for anything from Italy.

Yeah I heard this about the fire, the Bianchi rep came to my LBS and said this shouldnt effect delivery etc . . . . oh well keep looking at pictures it is!! ;) Im just hoping of the old and onto the new may makes things a little easier . . . . also if anyone has had any experience on the 1885 much appreciated.

I am doing a coast to coast for the Alzheimers society in september, just wondereing will the Bianchi be a little too race orientated with it being the B4P range for these distances or is it just a case of try it and see?? Otherwise will do the ride on my current bike.

Oh also whilst on the subject, carbon wheels?? . . . wotrth the upgrade on this bike?? For TT etc . . .

It might be something to do with Italian cycling stuff. I had to wait about two months before my Campag Chorus groupset appeared.

Apparently, the fire aside, Bianchi and other Italian manufacturers are giving preference of stock to Italian retailers first before distributing to rest of Europe.

I have an '07 Bianchi 1885 Ultegra. The frame is quite racy, but you can make adjustments to the set up (enlist your LBS here) to make it a 'comfier' ride. The ride is very responsive I think and the carbon forks, seatpost and seatstays help soak up some vibrations. I think you'll have enough riding experience of the 1885 by September (I hope it has arrived well before then! ) to make a decision as to which bike you'd rather spend hours in the saddle on.
Good luck and enjoy the 1885 when it arrives, lovely bike, hope you did the right thing and bought a Celeste one!

  • Hi

Not sure where you are , but I had the same issue when I ordered my Bianchi earlier in the year , in the end I contacted Epic cycles in Tenbury Wells and made the 2 hour journey to get a fitting and purchase.

Got to say well worth it , top class service and I got the bike straight away .

They prefer to do a fitting but can also shio bikes to you.

Due to the sheer volume of Bianchi's they sell they seem to get preference over other LBS

    Cheers

HaHa yes the celeste colour is a bit bright, although since ordereing it has grown on me :)

I ordered from the LBS before I knew anything about the long waiting times, I did have a look at local suppliers however all of them seem to have sold out of the 1885 now!

I am ot too worried if it takes a while as long as it turns up sooner rather than later!! 10 weeks and counting . . .
  • Even Epic warned me of the delays they are having on Bianchi's when I got fitted for an Infinito a few weeks ago. Advising ordering asap due to the current lead times.

Having the same problems with my Wilier frame that I choose in the end now, an ETA of 3 days, turned into a month, which has now increased further due to a volcano !

Ok an update LBS called Bianchi today and guess what, my bike is not even built. They have the frame but are having trouble with campag. They have not got any components and say that campag cannot tell them when the components will be in. Hmmmm . . . .

    ok options ....

Get frame and let LBS build up the bike

Sod bianchi off and start again somewhere else

Ribble . . . .?? Look good any points?? Thanks

That doesn't surprise me - I bought a bike from Epic and I specified Campag Centaur 10 speed. Epic said there were big problems with supply of 10 speed stuff (dunno if 11 speed was as bad) as a result of which I got a free upgrade of front and rear mechs to Record carbon!

Funnily enough I have a Carrera Vanquish that I use at home and last year I got a Bianchi 1885 that I ride when I go out the ride in the French Alps.

The Bianchi is a great piece of kit and it took a couple of months for my LBS to get one, but it was worth the wait. The difference between to two is dramatic and I particularly like the Compag components; I also fitted a Compact Chain ring to make life a little easier on the long climbs. I even luv Celeste…

So if you can hang on you won’t regret it….

TBH, I find Compaq components to take too long to boot up and then they crash a lot.
