Carbon Painters

A warning to those out there considering having a carbon bike painted. I have recently had an appalling experience. I used 'Colour-tech' in Dartford, going by a recommendation. The frame went to the guy on the 5th of March and I was told about a two week turnaround. However, this date came and went: no bike.

No problem as my first proper road race was not until the first of May. 'Oh yeah, sure, no problem, of course you'll have your bike by then.' The bike arrived today. On the phone the guy seems nice but he has shown no contrition regarding the fact that I have been left without a racing bike for important races.

I strongly urge you not to use this company as I am so disappointed with the service I have received.

The frame is with a mechanic, waiting to be built up. I will get photos up when I get the bike back. However, the mechanic was not so impressed with the paint job. And what good is a paint job if I don't have the bike for key races?

I wouldn't be so angry if the guy demonstrated just a tiny little bit of understanding about the position he has put me in. He showed no remorse or concern about his appalling service. I just wish I'd been warned about this months ago.

Shame about that but you left it too late to re-paint. You should be sending a frame off to be re-sprayed after your last race or at least in November. That way you have plenty of time to get it back for the race season

I was assured that it would take no more than 4 weeks. I can only go by what the guy says. The bike was allegedly ready for over a week before he sent it out to me. That would have been sufficient time.
