What road bike?

Hi, I mainly ride mtbs but thinking of getting into riding on the roads. How ever I only have a small budget for my road bike, around £300. Any suggestions on best options to go for on this budget, I'm guessing something second hand, but what should I look out for?

    Second would get you more. But if you are by a local Decathlon - they have a sweet looking road bike for 270 - and you would get a warranty. I have a low end decathlon which I use for commutting - its been pretty reliable.
